These games look great

Haven't hit this blog up in a while. Thought I would share some games that were rather inspiring.

Gigantic looks freaking great. The style is wonderful!

Also, my buddy is working on this one and I fell in love with it after seeing the trailer.

Been a while!

So busy I forget this blog is here. I've wanted it to be yet another thing that pops up when people are looking for inspiring stuff and just to sort of share awesome things.

I've been on a speed works watching binge the past few months. Figured I'd share some.

Another PBR find

PBR is one of those crazy new things like normal maps and Zbrush were back in the day. Ok maybe not THAT crazy because knowledge of shaders and different maps etc. are all still useful and can help understand this stuff but I do believe that shaders are the next big hurdle in AAA (to use the term loosely) game development. So I'm going to keep whoring out any new info I find to share on this magical new tech.

Any way, since engines that support PBR arent available for free yet and I'm cheap as hell. The best way to start messing with this stuff is with Marmoset tool bag 2 or key shot. The Marmoset guys have a great write up explaining PBR for us dumb folk and I wanted to share.

Feng Zhu tutorials

I happen to be a fan of Feng Zhu and not many people seem to know that on the site for his school he has about 65 free tutorials in which all of them take you from start to finish of a certain piece or theme. If you're looking to up your 2D game in a painterly way, I'd highly recommend bookmarking his site.

His tutorials cover everything from thumbnails and character design to environment pieces. Definitely worth a look.

Wet Clay MTL Tutorial - Pablo Munoz

I was linked this really awesome tutorial today that's up on Zbrush Central

It's a pretty cool looking result to get a wet clay feel. Definitely worth a read.

Physically Based Rendering video

This is a great video on physically based rendering which is the new hotness. Andrew Maximov is to credit for these videos. He's doing a great job explaining it and with this video you can download an example file and reverse engineer it so make sure you visit the actual youtube page.

New second blog to clean up the personal art blog

I noticed that I've been finding a number of super awesome videos, tutorials, reference sites, etc. that I really want to share with people but my personal art blog was not really the perfect place to park them. So I've decided to start a second blog just for cool things related to art and video games.
